The Brief: The Ramada Home sits on a 2,400 square foot lot in Scottsdale with a backyard built for the climate. The brief was to honor that — to make the outdoor space a true room of the house, not an afterthought, and to design the interior so it could open completely into the yard when the weather called for it.
The Approach: We rebuilt the home around the connection between inside and out. Oversized sliding doors replaced the original walls along the back of the house, erasing the line between kitchen, living space, and patio. The backyard itself was rebuilt around a pool, a hot tub, a sunken firepit with built-in seating, an outdoor kitchen, and a pergola structure that anchors the space. Materials from MSI and cabinetry from GC Cabinetry carry the same language inside and out.
The Result: The Ramada Home lives outside as much as it lives inside. Mornings on the patio, dinners by the firepit, afternoons in the pool — the house was built to support all of it. The sliders open and the house doubles in size.
